DC Entertainment works in concert with many key Warner Bros. divisions to unleash its stories and characters across all media, including but not limited to film, television, consumer products, home entertainment and interactive games. Publishing thousands of comic books, graphic novels and magazines each year, DC Entertainment is the largest English-language publisher of comics in the world.
What they needed
With over a hundred thousand nodes, multiple sites on a Drupal 7 framework, and a lot of different comics and needs, DC Entertainment needed someone to come in and guide through the project strategy, outline objectives and timelines, and complete development work.
The overview of the project involves continuous maintenance tasks for the environment and new releases for specific pages and new evolution of the DC Entertainment brand.
How I helped
I collaborate with the design partner of DC Comics, Sisu Media, in delivering several different adjustments to the site. I work to provide overall technology architecture decisions and changes to content strategy and placement. In this work, I guide the Agile process and scrum-based meeting.
A part of this process means investigating the existing implementation and finding performant, intentional updates to the site. Along with guiding this flow, I do hands-on development work. The latest adjustment has been taking the jCarousel and Flexslider elements and transitioning everything to Slick for consistency and functionality.
The above screenshot is the latest homepage hero slider. This has been updated with brand adjustments and the mobile slider has embraced Slick as well. Hello, draggable!
The Get To Know carousel on the homepage, as well as other sub-page sliders, embraces the Slick sliders with new branded dots and a better mobile experience.
